Maps, routes and tours in the Bus Company Simulator could previously only be added by the team. From now on you can take care of that yourselves: every map you have installed can be synchronised directly from within the game. If the map does not exist in the game yet, it will be created automatically in the process. You will find the new "Synchronise maps" button under "Manage maps" in your company. The requirements are Level 10 and an account that is at least 14 days old.
When synchronising, the simulator reads the timetables of the selected map and transfers them to the server. You can either submit all routes at once or pick a single one.
To make sure no faulty data ends up in the game, the following rules apply:
- A tour only becomes visible to all players once three different players have submitted exactly the same tour independently of each other
- In your own singleplayer company, however, you can drive maps you have synchronised yourself right away
- A tour disappears again if it was consistently missing from the three most recent reports about it. Outdated timetables therefore clear themselves up
- Implausible tours are rejected, for example if their length, duration or average speed is unrealistic
Newly created maps are automatically enabled for multiplayer and receive a price without the team having to approve them first. Default values are set for weather data, school holidays and public holidays. For the time being, those three areas can still only be edited by the trip team. So if you notice anything about them on a map, please get in touch with the team so that we can adjust it.
We have also considerably sped up the reading of timetables along the way. Maps that used to take the simulator half a minute are now read in a matter of seconds. You will notice this not only when synchronising, but also when opening the Shift Schedule.
The more players submit a map, the sooner it becomes available to everyone. Many thanks to everyone taking part!
We have also tidied up under the hood. Until now, a second file was shipped alongside the actual program and started in the background to read the data out of OMSI (the omsiSchnittstelle.exe). The program now handles this task itself. This brings the following advantages:
- No additional file is started any more that had to be blocked by virus scanners or firewalls, or approved manually first
- The most common cause of the message "Now wait until OMSI has finished loading." staying on screen even though the game had long since started is now gone
Nothing else changes for you, the previous interface file is no longer needed.
As always, we look forward to your feedback, ideally straight through PeDePulse using the F1 key.
