Can't download minimap data in BCS

    Recently I played Hohenkirchen and Städtedreieck21 V2. I'm sure I have played these maps before. But these days BCS forces to update minimap data, deletes the data in my directory and says "no server connection".

    I've just tried to use the link to download the data in the browser, successfully downloaded Hohenkirchen but didn't find the correct link to Städtedreieck21 V2. I put the data in the res folder of both BCS and omninavigation. But at least BCS deleted it again and forced to update.

    But for some maps, like Lublin (played these 3 maps in the same day), BCS doesn't force to update the minimap data. What's happening?

    and why? On July 17th, I firstly played Städtedreieck21 V2, completed 3 tours with successfully downloaded minimap. But on July 25th, BCS forced to download data and showed no server connection.

    I think i've got nothing important in the log files when "no server connection" showed

    and "no server connection" pops up immediately after clicking start, It seems BCS doesn't want to have a try to connect

    now many of my friends are reporting this problem in different maps too.

    regional problem or worldwide? anybody else?

    Now those errors don't exist in the log anymore. But the problem still exists.

    And I just asked, one of my Chinese friends can successfully get the data of Thuringen Wald. But I can't. What could be the difference?

    Just asked AI (because I'm not good at this), it says it could be the server's problem. The server's firewall blocked my connection or something.

    And I can confirm my last update on windows 11 was on July 12th.

    And I don't think I have updated Java (at least not by myself, I'm not a programmer and I'm not warned by anything that is about Java).

    ok.... another time BCS is down. I really want to question whether there is anything hidden in the server that prevents us downloading the data.

    these from today's BCS down seem just like those in the first logs. any ideas?

    I can successfully download the minimap there, and every one of them. I've tried multiple maps and succeeded.

    But for BCS and ON, they are not possible to get them there.

    I already knew a way to bypass this, and put TH_Wald there in a strange way. But this can't be a solution forever.

    Edit: I've already give Java and everything about OMSI the firewall permission

    If it works this way, we can rule out an error in the server configuration. Since hardly anyone else has this problem, we can only speculate. Our developers have updated the method for downloading files in the latest BBS update. Please try it out and see if it has helped.

    no it's not working. Now my Grande Porto 2022 minimap is down too. But I can just get the rar from the browser. too weird.

    and to be honest, I asked my Chinese friends. I found one who can get minimap directly. But most of them can't. I don't know why.

    It could also be related to virus scanner or your internet provider. Do your friends have the same network provider? Maybe there is something blocked in your internet or your providers' settings?

    Great news! VPN is working this time. BCS successfully downloaded Grande Porto 2022 & Städtedreieck21 V2 by itself.

    So...... any ideas?

    Edit: I really have to apologize for this. I just found out I'm using ON all the time, not BCS's minimap.

    BUT, in BCS, it shows "no server connection" for me. An this can be solved by VPN right now. I can see BCS's minimap in OMSI. It seems like something like firewall is blocking me for this.

    BUT I still can't get the data in ON. Even with VPN on, it still says the file is corrupt and it's not compatible.

    I think these two minimap both need to be checked.

    We are working on an update for OmniNavigation and have also updated the method for downloading files. The update is not public yet, but you can already try it out and see if it has helped.

    You can download the new version here.

    Please replace this OmniNavigation.jar with your existing one in "...Steam\steamapps\common\OMSI 2\OmniNavigation".

    I just found a way. I put the rar file in Steam\steamapps\common\OMSI 2\OmniNavigation, (replaced "_" with " ", changed "ae" to "ä") and then let ON to recognize it and extract them.

    For Grande Porto 2022, this works and ON seems to permanent remember it.

    But for Städtedreieck21 V2, when I put rar in, ON recognizes it and extracts it. I can see the map. But after I restart it, or just re-open the map again, the file is gone and it says "the file is corrupt. please download it again". ON doesn't remember I have installed the file? Why?

    The txt shows the process of:

    1. No rar file. No data in res folder. Start ON. Open Städtedreieck21 V2 map without VPN. "corrupt file" shows.

    2. Put Städtedreieck21 V2 rar into ON folder, renamed properly. Re-open Städtedreieck21 V2 map. ON extracts the file and the map shows.

    3. Close the map and re-open the map again without VPN. The file is gone and "corrupt file" shows.

    4. Re-open the map with VPN. "corrupt file" shows.

    So my conclusion is: there's somehow a connection issue. And there's a problem that ON doesn't remember Städtedreieck21 V2 is installed. Even Grande Porto 2022 is remembered after what I did above.

    Because the link https://busbetrieb-simulator.de/files/minimap/xxx.rar works for me in browser. BCS only requires VPN now (maybe it's because there's an international meeting here). But for ON, VPN doesn't work at all. The link is for BCS obviously, but is it for ON too?

    I don't think it makes sense if BCS & ON get file from the same link, and BCS can while ON can't.

    And what's the specialty of Städtedreieck21 V2? Why isn't this map file remembered by both BCS and ON?

    The version file was missing in the minimap file of this map. Just add an empty text file "1.txt" in your folder "...Steam\steamapps\common\OMSI 2\OmniNavigation\res\Städtedreieck21 V2", then OmniNavigation won't redownload the minimap every time.

    Yes, it's the same url and with the new OmniNavigation version I sent you even the same download method, so that's really strange.
