this is a bug from my friend. BCS and navigation keep saying "You need the current version of OMSI to play (2.3.004). Do you want to upgrade your OMSI version?" But he always plays in 2.3.004 and never used the older one. This keeps showing even he reinstalls them again and again or changes the version to old and back to new again.

    btw he's in windows 11

  • here's the log for BCS

    update:

it seems like when he loads to BCS, BCS will overwrite omsi.exe to a version of 8179KB, instead of original 8305KB, but the 8179KB version still says it's 2.3.004 in main menu,

and i gave him my omsi.exe copy. BCS overwrites the file the first time, but the second time it didn't and "wrong version" message didn't show up.

now keep trying to know whether it will show up again

  • ok i'll tell him to do it if it happens again.

it's quite weird. he didn't solve it by reinstalling many times but now he's ok with my copy. and what he did is just using my copy, nothing more.

and the overwrite happened just when BCS shows the main menu. it was very quick. the process just happened between he clicked "start BCS" and "arrive at main menu". he didn't do anything else.

  • Perhaps his omsi.exe was simply corrupt and was not downloaded correctly by Steam.

However, I must point out that it is legally forbidden to copy a copyrighted file from one user to another. You agreed to this when you purchased and installed the software. Please be more careful with this in the future.

  • sorry i just wanted to help him. it was just only the exe file so i thought i it was alright.

so we just discovered that, if he starts BBS from steam, the file will be overwritten when BCS is loading to main menu.

But when he starts from BCS folder, everything is alright. also tried with start-admin.bat, it's not starting from steam so the file is not overwritten
